How long has it been since you sorted through your papers? Have you ever cleaned out your stickers, ribbons and other embellishments, and made room for new ones? If you feel the need to do that please consider donating what you'd like to get rid of the the ZMMS Scrapbookers. Every Wednesday morning during Prowl, dozens of middle school students are exercising their creativity while making an 8x8 event scrapbook. Donations can be dropped off at any of the school offices. If you have questions email Jane Hawbaker at janeh@zmsch.k12.mn.us or call the middle school office before 8am or high school office after 11am.

Donations can also be dropped off at Autumn Moon.

Have a Cricut machine and not sure how to use it? Always wanted to use the Cricut machine at Autumn Moon but not sure where to start? Had your Cricut awhile and not using it to the fullest potential? This is the time for you. Come in at 10am and learn what you need to know to make wonderful die cuts, projects, cards and more. If you have the original personal cricut (this uses the 7x 14 size mat (cutting space is 6x12) – please bring it with you as we do not have this size in the store. Minimum cost is $5 for the class. If you need to purchase mats or paper this will be an additional charge. There is no set curriculum for this class and is per the customer needing the insight so come as often as you would like. Gypsy help is also available at this time (bring your own).

*This class is not for Cricut Imagine.

Chalking Inks

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my powder puff chalking inks! I seem to go in streaks with inking up edges to add "dramatic" effect - and right now I'm having way too much fun. These inks are wonderful, dry quickly, and STAY on the container. We have them in a great 12 pack so you will have all the colors you need. Stop in, try them out, and love them as much as I do.

Here are the details:

$2/night

3 night maximum

Rental on Saturday is automatic $4 to be returned on Monday; $6 if Tuesday

1 cartridge limit (to start)

$30 CASH deposit required at time of rental

When cartridge, overlay and booklet is returned in the same condition that it left the store, your deposit will be returned to you.

Starting this summer we will be offering both scrapbook layout classes as well as home decor and album kit classes. The tentative plan is to offer the same class 3 time each month so we can hit a multitude of different schedules. Don't have time for the class or just want the materials - this is an option too. We will be pre-selling the kits before each class and get in only what we need to help keep other inventory in the store fresh and new. Kits range anywhere from $13 to $30 depending on the project.

Tentative Schedule:

3rd Thursday and then following Saturday of the Month

(most classes can be completed in 45 minutes but you will have as much time as you need!)

We are trying to spring things up a bit and decided to have a "Tube" contest. The rules are simple
1. Stop in an purchase "The Tube" from Autumn Moon ($1.00 each)
2. Decorate and Fill "The Tube" in any theme
3. Return "The Tube" to Autumn Moon by April 30th - that's right you have a whole MONTH to figure this out.

Starting May 1st we will encourage our customers to vote on their favorite tube. The top 3 entries will receive 3 very special prizes (yes it will involve more tubes).

My Stik

The whole My Stik line is now here and ready to go. I really do like this product and the simple change so that it is a refillable product has made it even better. Couple of quick notes/reminders:

**The "Vellum" runner (purple) really is a straight line runner first and a vellum runner second. This means that for those that like a continuous line this the product for you. It is super strong and is invisible if used with vellum.

**The "Repositionable" runner (green) is a dot runner (made up of lots of little dots). This is only repositionable able for approx 5 minutes, after that it becomes permanent.

**"Original" runner (red) is small lines and is a permanent (from the get go) runner.

**The handle (for lack of a better description) is interchangeable between runners - so really only need 1, but you may want all 3....

***YOU customize your runner to your liking! Put your favorite picture on one side, your name, your motto - what ever you like to make it your own. This really is a fun little extra touch.

My wonderful 3L buddy just stopped in the store and I love when she comes because she always gives me a new idea or insight. So what did I learn about today? The MyStik "Vellum" (the purple dispenser) is absolutely wonderful. For all of you looking for a straight line runner (not dots, tabs or strips) this is the answer!!! It works beautifully and is super strong. It works with textured card stock, paper and fabric flowers, heavy card stock, buttons and more. I tried it out and have one in the store for you to try as well. The new MyStik Vellum was just release at winter CHA and we will be getting our supply soon.

Special Olympics Minnesota is excited to be part of this national campaign that aims to supply scarves for Special Olympics athletes participating in state Winter Games around the country. To participate and show your support of Special Olympics athletes, please follow these guidelines:

**Use the official 2011 colors: Red Heart Yarns 886-Blue and Red Heart Yarns 512-Turqua

**No other colors should be used (and each scarf should use both colors)

**Knitting or crocheting are both great!

**Scarves should be 6 in. wide x 54–60 in. long

**Pack completed scarves in an individual Ziploc bag and include your name and address (printed legibly) on a 3x5 index card so that we can send you a thank-you note. Please include your email address if you wish to receive email updates about Special Olympics Minnesota.

**Multiple scarves (each in their own bag) can be shipped together in one box.

If you are interested in making a scarf for the Special Olympics please contact the store via email AutumnMoon.MN@gmail.com or by phone 507-732-7400. We will be selling the yarn for this project and will be a collection area for your finished projects and will take care of the shipping for you. As a thank you - Autumn Moon will give you store credit for each skein of yarn purchased for the project so keep you receipts and skein tags. Scarves need to be dropped off at Autumn Moon
by Friday February 4th 2011.

Today we our finishing up our winter retreat here at Autumn Moon. We scrapbooked for 37 hours, cut thousands of cricut diecuts (and yes Annette cut half of them herself) and had a wonderful 3 days of fun. So the workroom looked a bit like a tornado came through it this morning but how quickly it changes and now sits and waits for the next event...

Learn the basics of quilting and the tools of the trade. If you have never quilted before or would like to take figure out if quilting is for you this is the class to take. Cost of the class is $10. No supplies are necessary.

Special Olympics Minnesota is excited to be part of this national campaign that aims to supply scarves for Special Olympics athletes participating in state Winter Games around the country. Bring your needles of choice (sizes 7 on up will work). You purchase the yarn (available at Autumn Moon $7.58) and when you return your completed scarf receive a store credit ($6.00). There are some guidelines to this project so please either check with Autumn Moon or Special Olympics before starting this project if you choose to make a scarf outside of this designated gathering time.
No Class Limit but sign-up by Friday January 14th to ensure we have enough yarn on hand

The Special Olympics Yarn has arrived! There is over 300 yards on each skein. I'm hoping to have everything put together Friday morning regarding the info and instructions for the project. Each skein costs $3.79; in order to reward customers for purchasing the yarn and giving back to the Special Olympics, Autumn Moon will give you a gift certificate back to the store for $3.00/skein ($6 for the pair) when you return your scarves and skein wrappers back to the store.

***Please follow the guidelines set-forth by the Special Olympics. Do NOT substitute colors or brands - Scarves that do not meet the guidelines will not be accepted.

Planning Ahead

We are looking for a good weekend to do our Scrap Retreat Weekend 2011 here at the store.

Last year we did the first weekend in February and found there to be a number of conflicting events taking place. We are looking ahead now and trying to make a plan for the upcoming scrapbook season. Please let us know which weekend you would be most interested (and available) to scrap for the weekend.

Options are:

January 21-23
January 28-30
February 11-13
February 18-20

Last year we did Friday - Sunday $50 and 5 meals. We may make some modifications to this plan and actually start on Thursday evening, but not increase the cost! If nothing else you could drop off your stuff on Thursday evening (5pm - 9pm) and save time Friday morning. Friday and Saturday we stay open till midnight and then Sunday you could scrap from 9am until 4pm. This equals a total of 41 hours of scrapping!!!
